NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain passed away in October of 1999. To honor the former Lakers center the team wore a black band on the left shoulder of their jersey throughout the season. The 1999-00 season marked the Lakers return to the NBA Finals and ultimately their twelfth championship, when they defeated the Pacers in six games. This was Kobe Bryant's first NBA title and the first of three consecutive championships for Los Angeles.
