Designed by Godfather of Sole, Tinker Hatfield & debuted during the '96-'97 NBA Season, the Air Jordan 12 draws inspiration from Nisshoki (the Japanese flag) & the Rising Sun, as well as a colour-blocking on 19th century female wingtips, derbies & brogues.
The AJ12 was the first in the Jordan line to introduce Zoom Air technology. It featured a full-length unit encased in a Phylon midsole. Additionally, it continued the legacy of its predecessor the AJ11, with a carbon fiber support shank.
Arguably the most iconic moment that the AJ12 was a part of was during Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. The "Flu Game" stands as a testament to MJ's unparalleled tenacity. Despite battling flu-like symptoms, MJ delivered a staggering 38-point performance, leading the Bulls to a crucial victory.
